The crocuses are pretty much done here. Our daffodils are slow as usual. It is time to start getting the garden ready and time to get things in the ground. Two weeks ago Adie and I sowed broccoli, beets, and peas. Hopefully soon our asparagus will start popping up. Now the rest of the garden is in need of cleaning.
While cleaning out the garden just yesterday I uncovered 5 baby painted turtles. They were no bigger than a half-dollar. Adie just loved seeing them.
She does love the camera! |
Rippin it on the Uke! |
Things are going well here. We are all excited about the coming seasons. Around here, it means more and more outside time! It is so much easier now to simply get outside and not have to drive to a playground. We got Adie and Junie a Rainbow swing set for Christmas. They love it! Junie had her first swing experience on the first day of spring. She just giggled and squeaked the whole time. Now she is a pro, she just kicks her little legs while swinging. Grilling will be next! Bring on the meats and beers! I know I'm ready for a grill full of brats, burgers, pork loins, and chicken breasts!

Sister time! |
First swing! |
We just got back from a long weekend in Minnesota. A wonderful gathering of family covering 4 generations. As I mentioned in the last posting, we lost Grandpa R. this past December. It really touched us all so deeply that we wanted to make sure we get together more often.
We had such a great time! Great food of course. I should have taken pictures of the selection we had at our Saturday gathering. There was a waterslide at the hotel we stayed at which the kids loved. Junie loved the water. She just kicked her legs, splashed and bounced.
First swimming experience! |
Cousin time! |
Adie was so excited about seeing her cousins. She also got to meet my cousins kids that were comparable in ages as well.. She got to really hang with the big girls!
Junie was a champ. She was great! She hammed it up the whole time. Sleeping on who ever wanted to hold her, showing off her crawling capabilities, and letting everyone know how loud she can be.
The girls and Great Grandma |
Junie is growing up so fast. Just before we went to Minnesota she was getting close to crawling. Then within two days she went from barely bouncing to crawling across the floor. As with Adie, it took some encouragement. June is drawn to Adie's "big girl" toys. Putting a Barbie or piece of dress-up jewelry makes her really go for it! Check out the video... Now she is already starting to pull up on things. Soon enough she'll be standing up with the help of furniture.
It is really great watching these two girls grow up. Most of all though, what is so much fun, is seeing the two of them interact.. I can only imagine as Junie and Adie get older how much fun they will have together. Yea, yea, I know, two girls, sharing as they get older, getting along all the time..... We'll see...
